GETTING TO FLORENCE!
Florence is easily reached by plane, train or car depending on where the planned departure is from. The city has its own international airport (Amerigo Vespucci) and offers a major high-speed railway hub with trains leaving regularly for the whole of Italy. The airport in Florence is very small and has fewer flights but offers options connecting through main hubs like Amsterdam and Paris.
Be sure passports are up to date at least 6 months prior to travel.
Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola (FLR)
Formally Amerigo Vespucci, the international airport of Florence is also the capital of the Italian region of Tuscany. The airport is situated on the north-west outskirts of Florence, just 3.5 miles from the city center. If you’re able to secure a connecting flight into FLR, it’s recommended,

Taxis are available at the airport but may require a fixed rate depending on the time of arrival.
The airport is directly connected to the centre of Florence by a tram daily from 5.00am to 12.30am. The ride is about 20 minutes and only costs €1,50. Tickets can be purchased at the automatic vending machines at every stop.
Uber does not exist in Florence. itTaxi works similarly and can be used to schedule rides throughout the weekend as needed.
For metered taxis, rates start between €5.00 - €7.00 depending on the day of the week. This is not a scam.
